A Christmas Story

Twas the month before Christmas and all through the house, N ot a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Too good to be true I went around and around Looking for my children who were no where to be found.   When what to my wondering eyes should appear Were two little shadows in the closet I fear I opened the door and to my dismay I saw two little bodies in the middle of play They found all the presents wrapped up so tight Lil Ashton and Aydin didn't put up a fight The look on their faces were happy as can be With wrapping paper in each hand looking up at me Now Aydin now Ashton what were you thinking Come on Tony Leonard why were you sleeping They got to the toys, they got to them all Now off to bed off to bed off to bed you all At first I cried, I couldn't believe Then I laughed at lil Aydin, he was only being three Ashton doesn't know better he's not even two But Tony Bologna, he knew better he knew   So I re-wrapped the presents and chuckled ...

For My Boys

You don’t call me mom, but I don’t care I’ll read you bedtime stories with your favorite teddy bear I’ll tuck you in and turn off the lights And say I love you even if there was a fight ... You don’t call me mom, but I love you the same I’ll call the doctor when you are in pain I’ll bandage you cuts and bruises too Whatever you need no matter the mood You don’t call me mom, yet you brighten my day You make me so mad with something smart to say You leave your clothes all over the floor I have to remind you to brush your teeth once more You don’t call me mom, but its okay I’ll still take you to practice every day I’ll cheer you on at your sporting events And brag on you with the other parents You don’t call me mom, but I’ll always be there To tell you you’re wrong, even though you don’t care I’ll yell and scream and discipline you too Those teenage years I know they’re hard on you You don’t call me mom, yet you make me cry Like the day I give you the keys to dr...

Spring Time

Ok so where do I start?  Ahhhh yes, Spring Break.  My kids were on spring break so of course we took them on vacation.  Williamsburg, VA.  Busch Gardens was great.  Austin rode a tone of coasters.  Aydin went on his first log flume, and Alec started a "map in hand while going down roller coasters" tradition.  The boys had a blast.  Ashton is now cutting his top teeth which must be another tradition, because he cut his bottom two in Williamsburg in January.  My parents joined us for Easter and a couple of days in Colonial Williamsburg.  A day shopping at the outlets topped off the trip before we head home to good ole North Carolina.  All the boys were there except the oldest who has turned 18 and feels he has earned some right of passage to adulthood, blocked me on facebook because "its all my fault," and who has forgotten all about his family.  Sad...yes, tired of his games...more than you know.  This I could say is where ...

When The Cats Away The Mice Shall Play

Growing up I loved it when my mom would go out for a couple of hours and leave us with dad.  That meant junk for dinner, unlimited TV, and bed time was as mom was pulling in the driveway.  You know how dad's are.  They "wear the pants" but its mom who buys, washes, and irons those pants.  She is the one who keeps everyone in line.  Now that I'm the mom, my childhood comes back and haunts me almost daily. Tonight I went with my friend's daughter to her pageant contest practice.  I was only gone for 2 hours.  The boys know the drill.  Take showers, tidy up, homework, stuff like that.  But ooooooo noooooo, when mom got home, bedroom trashed, children not showered, dishwasher still loaded with clean dishes...a mom's welcome home right?  But there was this beautiful aroma this time.  One that I wasn't familiar with.  ahhh yes, the smell of dinner being prepared.  My dear husband was making dinner.  So while I'm anno...

Deep Fried Turkey

Once upon a time there was a girl from the city.  This girl met a man from the country.  This man deep fried turkeys for Thanksgiving, while this girl frowned on this idea...oven roasting a turkey is the only way...WELL LET ME SHUT UP!!!  My hubby has been deep frying turkeys for four years and this year, my folks, his folks, Aydin, and Anthoney all enjoyed.  Poor Alec and Austin missed it this year, for it was their Mother's turn for T-Day this year.  Deep fried turkey is the ONLY way to go.  Having growing boys, its how fast can mom get food on the table.  I would have to say dear hubby and I have dinner hot and on the table in 90 min or less!!!  :)  I would have to say it was a successful T-Day  :) While I missed my other boys while they were at their mom's I did enjoy some bit of peace and quiet.  You know the oldest with his cell phone permanently attached to his ear with his girl friend on the other line, keeps him out of my...

PROTEST

Ok so I know everyone will go through this at least once.  The I PROTEST.  No more cooking, no more cleaning, no more car pools right?  Usually this happens at the age of well...Mom.  Until last night.  My 13 year old went out (on hmmm well I guess you could call it a date) last night.  He asked his dad to pick him up at 930 from the High School.  After waiting for an hour, and his cell phone going straight to voice mail...here he comes walking across the parking lot.  Now as parents we ALWAYS try to teach our children a lesson.  So when he got home he had a bucket up water and pine sol waiting for him with a toothbrush.  Yes a toothbrush.  All he had to do was clean the laundry room floor with a toothbrush.  After about 30 min of just sitting there and decided he was going to Protest...yes protest.  Are you serious?  Are you kidding me?  Honestly I was laughing hysterically in the other room.  He grew some ...

TFIG

Remember when TGIF was a group of TV shows that was a must see on Friday nights?  Full House, Family Matters, etc.  I was always glued to the TV on Fridays in time to watch my shows.  Now its TGIF so I can take a break from work for a couple of days.  Actually..job #2 kicks in...Mom time. Tony's birthday is today!! :)  He's home, but will he take on the mommy role so i can have a break?  Do we ever expect our hubbies to do the job we do?  He did great today.  I had a doc appt this morning and he covered it all.  All the boys got out to school on time and he even made the boys breakfast!! :)  Then he came with me to take Aydin to school and the tear in his eye reminded me of the first couple of times I took him to school.  Now its, oh crap I'm 10 min late which means that 10 min less time I have to myself.  Hurry hurry Aydin, lets get to school.  kiss kiss and peace.  I know there are other mom's out there that feel ...
